This training course is based on the requirements of ISO 22301 and teaches comprehensive legal, organisational and psychological principles.
Content and structure of the training
Over the course of 4 days, you will familiarise yourself with the key elements of business continuity management. The training combines theoretical knowledge, practical exercises and real-life scenarios to optimally prepare you for your role as a BCM manager. The focus is on:
- Legal foundations: overview of national and international regulations, including the GDPR and IT security laws
- ISO 22301 requirements: In-depth understanding of the standard and its implementation.
- Crisis simulations: Practical exercises for dealing with emergencies.
- Psychological and communication skills: leadership in stressful situations, effective communication and resilience.
Target group
This training is aimed at:
- Executives who are to act as business continuity managers
- Employees from the areas of risk management, IT security, facility management or corporate management
- People who would like to prepare for ISO 22301 certification.
- Interested parties who want to take a closer look at business continuity in the context of NIS-2 and DORA requirements.

Methods
The training offers a combination of different teaching methods to ideally combine theory and practice:
- Lectures and presentations: teaching the theoretical foundations
- Workshops: Creation of business continuity plans and implementation of business impact analyses (BIA).
- Crisis simulations: practical application and consolidation of leadership skills.
- Case studies and role plays: practical exercises to train psychological and communication skills.
- Emergency exercise: A half-day emergency exercise with practical risk assessments and emergency plans is carried out in a simulation for “Mustermann GmbH”

DAY 1
Module 1: Legal foundations of business continuity management
- Legal obligations, contractual aspects, liability
- Practical exercises: Brainstorming on the requirements in companies
Module 2: Introduction to Business Continuity Management
- Definitions, differences to BCM aspects in ISO 27001, disaster recovery and crisis management
- Objectives of BCM
- Overview of ISO 22301
DAY 2 and 3
Module 3: ISO 22301 – Requirements and implementation
- Detailed analysis of the standard, including planning and maintenance of a BCMS
- Practical exercises: Creating a BC plan, conducting BIAs and risk assessments
Module 4: Crisis exercises and scenarios
- Simulation of crisis situations and application of the skills learnt
- Role plays and case studies
- Analysis and feedback on crisis exercises
DAY 4
Module 5: Psychological foundations and leadership skills
- Psychology in crisis situations
- Communication in times of crisis
- Leadership qualifications for emergencies
- Resilience of managers
Module 6: Examination and certification
- Final examination: Theoretical and practical examination to ensure competence in business continuity management
- Certificate in accordance with ISO 22301: After passing the exam, participants receive certification as a Business Continuity Manager.
