Legal and Practical Aspects of an NISG Audit
Overview
The new CIS Certification training course covers the latest legal, substantive and practical requirements for obtaining a certificate as an independent NIS auditor. CIS Certification GmbH was selected back in 2018 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs to conduct NISG audits, making it Austria’s most experienced NIS 2 audit body.
Target audience: CISOs, IT auditors, internal auditors and NIS consultants who wish to prepare for or conduct an NIS audit to the highest standard.
Course Objectives & Entry Requirements
You will understand the legal framework and the fundamentals of a NISG26 audit and will be able to carry out NISG26-compliant audits independently. You will be able to establish the substantive link between the legal requirements, information security, audit procedures and the audit report.
Prerequisites: at least 2 years’ professional experience in the field of cybersecurity and/or in the legal sector
Speakers
The trainers Boris Treml (Ing. Mag. LLM) and Robert Jamnik offer not only legal expertise but also experience drawn directly from audit practice. Through their integrated approach, they demonstrate how security and the law interact.
Small group sizes of up to 12 people allow for a focus on individual questions and real-world cases.
Modules & Exams
The training programme to become an independent NIS auditor lasts 2.5 days and consists of:
- Building knowledge of current legal frameworks (NISG 2026, CRA)
- Product and organisational law (supplier management)
- Correct handling of suppliers (internal and external) – CRA
- Conducting audits (providing practical training using a sample audit)
- Preparing a legally compliant audit report
- Procedures for dealing with regulatory authorities
- Audit procedures – tips drawn directly from practical audit experience
- Further frameworks for compliance with the NIS-2 Act (state of the art)
- Leveraging synergies with ISO 27001 for NISG audits
This is followed by the examination to become an independent NIS auditor. Duration of the examination: 1 hour, online.
Upon passing the examination, you will receive the ‘Independent NIS Auditor’ certificate.
